Session at the moment of recording this video. It’s priced at $149 or 169 Euros just to be clear this is not a review on the hero session 5 this video is all about the recent Rebranded and repriced Hero session4 which is now called Hero Session the Hero session 5 has got a lot more features, but it’s also double the price of the hero session now Let’s take a look at some of the key features of the hero session the highest resolution for video recording is 1440p at 30 frames a second or 1080p at 60 frames a second the maximum photo quality is 8 Megapixels at 10 frames per second burst times the camera is also waterproof until a depth of 33 feet or 10 meters The Hero session also has got a simple one-button Control function more about that later on in this video on a cavity wise we’ve got bluetooth and wi-Fi and another feature is the microphone wind noise reduction altogether some nice features, but these features are mostly standard and any camera at this price point, so the question is is it worth your $150 or is the gopro still a little bit overpriced let’s find out first Let’s take a quick look at what you’ll get inside the package you’ll get a couple of instruction manuals combined to it gopro stickers Yay, you’ll also get two adhesive mounts or pads for the gopro this can be used to mount the gopro Protection case next we’ve got a uSB cable for charging and Data Transfer and Of course the camera itself inside a protection case now let’s have a look at the camera itself first of all the build quality of the Hero session is Phenomenal this soft rubbery outside of the Hero section provides a very good grip the camera is very compact.
GoPro HERO5 Session Camera
It’s a cube-shaped Action cam measured at around 1.5. Inches on each side on top of the camera. We’ve got a small led screen Which can be used for the menu and also give some information on the status of the camera? also on top of the camera We’ve got one button one click is enough to turn on the camera and start recording It does take the co pro a couple seconds before starts recording So you might miss some of the action that you trying to capture so that means that there’s no standby mode it also takes one Click to stop recording and turn off the camera At the side of the camera behind a waterproof door you find a micro usb Connection port and also a micro Sd card slot It’s not a huge deal breaker, but it’s kinda hard to get the SD card in and out of the camera Hopefully gopro will fix this in the next edition the uSb port can be used to charge the battery of the hero session It’s not an option to replace the batteries probably due to the waterproof housing.
I was able to record 95 minutes with a fully charged battery with video settings on 1080p 60 frames a second you can also use the camera while a uSB charger is connected the camera can also be controlled with the Gopro Capture app and once you are connected you’ll be able to use the app as a remote view for the camera It does have a little bit of input lag But it’s still very useful and inside the settings menu you can change a lot of options for the camera for example You can change the video resolution and also the frames per second Megapixels for the photo mode and gain to fall for the time-lapse You can also start recording with the app if you use 60 frames a second There’s no preview available only at 30 frames a second and like I mentioned before the gopro Hero Session is waterproof. There’s no additional housing or case needed to use it underwater Well it did survive this test, but let’s give it a proper test and by proper testing I mean use the gopro where it’s built for and since. I’m not allowed to get dirty I asked this pretty girl to do this for me want this,
I Think she did a pretty good job on testing the camera if yuri give this video a thumbs up I think she deserves it the camera still works, so it’s time to show you some more footage This is a time that Stella shot in rotterdam the gopro was set at one frame per second There’s no color Correction of life to this shot I only added horizontal motion to the shot inside premiere pro, and this is some footage of a low-light situation It’s a moment after sunset, and I’m using the low light mode on and off and also in this shot I haven’t applied any form of color Correction Now let’s also do a microphone test while we watch the footage This is me outside testing the built-in microphone. This is the quality that you get with a minimum of background noise This is another test inside There is no background noise and this is the quality of the microphone of the gopro Hero session as You can see you can also use the gopro as a dashcam and to finish it up a couple of photos taken with the gopro and Now it’s conclusion time let’s start with the pros the build quality is excellent In my opinion the colors are great and the image quality is good enough The Gopro Capture app works fine combined with the hero session and another huge Pro Is that it’s waterproof?
Without a need for an external case and the final pro would be the microphone not the best I’ve heard so far but much better than the average now Let’s have a look at some of the negatives first of all it does not have any form of image stabilization There are a lot of cheaper cameras that do have this option my second complaint would be that it’s not able to record in 4k My third complaint is that it’s not an option to replace the batteries and my fourth and final Complaint is that it’s still a little bit overpriced. I think around $100 would be more fair for this camera so my final conclusion is that I would recommend to buy this camera, but only if it’s on sale and That concludes my review on the gopro Hero session Do you agree with my opinion? Please let me know in the comments below I’ve got more camera reviews planned for the next week’s so click subscribe if you don’t want to miss any of the new videos and That’s all I had to share with you today. I hope you enjoyed it. See you next time on orange 83.
